Venice (IT). Over the past few weeks, Polytec has been completing activities to restore the automation for Cimolai S.p.A. in the Malamocco inlet in Venice, more specifically in the “Porta Lato Mare/Porta Lato Laguna” navigation lock, the deepest dock through which ships transit to the commercial port of Marghera, with the supply of new electrical equipment and new safety control systems.
Yesterday morning, in the Malamocco inlet, the Polytec technical team, together with Cimolai technicians, carried out the transit test of a barge and a “Una Safety” lifeboat in the navigation lock, simulating a situation with MOSE in operation. Passing this test confirms that ships can reach inland waters even with the gates up.
Among the personalities who witnessed the operations were:
- Elisabetta Spitz, extraordinary commissioner of MOSE;
- Massimo Miani, liquidator of the Consorzio Venezia Nuova;
- Rear Admiral Filippo Marini, commander of the Venice Port Authority.
The operations were also attended by the Councillor for Social Cohesion, Tourism and Economic Development of the Municipality of Venice, Simone Venturini.
