Great interest shown during our recent event in Osaka, co-hosted by Polytec and Sumitomo Shoji Machinex Co. Ltd.
The event focused on technological applications aimed at enhancing safety in red zones, as well as advanced sampling and labeling systems designed to improve traceability and quality. These topics sparked engaging and insightful discussions throughout the day.
The event was officially opened by Mr. Omar Bazzoli, Chief Sales Officer and Member of the Executive Committee at Polytec, and Mr. Takashi Yamana, Representative Director, President and CEO of Sumitomo Shoji Machinex Co. Ltd. Following the presentations, plant visits and detailed technical assessments are now being planned to further explore the interests raised.
Polytec, an Italian company with over 500 robots and systems installed worldwide, is now fully committed to developing the Japanese market. In collaboration with Sumitomo Shoji Machinex, it supports the transformation of the steel industry through smart solutions addressing key challenges of safety, efficiency, and quality.
Polytec’s strength lies in its automation systems, which are already in use globally across various processes such as blast furnaces, electric refining, steelmaking, continuous casting, rolling, aluminum, and intralogistics.
Against the backdrop of labor shortages and increasing accident risks in the steel industry, Polytec aims to eliminate manual work in hazardous areas. Its approach promotes the coexistence of humans and machines (Industry 5.0) using cutting-edge AI, IoT, predictive maintenance, digital twins, and real-time monitoring.
On July 16th, the successful Osaka seminar brought together around 200 professionals from the steel and non-ferrous industries to explore the latest innovations. Omar Bazzoli commented: “We are developing state-of-the-art technologies globally. Together with Sumitomo Shoji Machinex, we aim to expand sales in Japan and create new opportunities.”
Polytec has already delivered sample robots to Japan and is currently considering the establishment of a local maintenance team. With existing hubs in North and South America and South Korea, the company is well-prepared to ensure fast and effective service support in Japan, in cooperation with Sumitomo Shoji Machinex’s network.
